Giorgio Ferri got a degree certificate in Human Studies (History of Religions) in 2005 at the University of Rome La Sapienza with his thesis "Problemi dell’Evocatio" (eng. "Problems of the Evocatio").

Currently he works on his PhD thesis in Ancient History about "The Meaning and the Conception of the Civic Tutelary Divinity in Roman Religion" at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Giorgio Ferri examines the roman evocatio, the rite by which, shortly before the last attack on a besieged city, the Romans asked the tutelary deity of the besieged city to grant them her favor. Thanks to the progressive enlargement of its borders, Rome came into contact with a large number of deities. But only few of them were officially recognized by the senate.
